【摘要】:1.1Thisspecificationcovershollowbuildingbrickandhollowfacingbrickmadefromclay,shale,fireclay,ormixturesthereof,andfiredtoincipientfusion.Fourtypesofhollowbrickineachoftwogradesandtwoclassesarecovered.Inthisspecificationthetermhollowbrickshallbeunderstoodtomeanhollowclaymasonryunitswhosenetcross-sectionalarea(solidarea)inanyplaneparalleltothesurface,containingthecores,cells,ordeepfrogs,islessthan75%ofitsgrosscross-sectionalareameasuredinthesameplane(see).Thisspecificationdoesnotcoverbrickintendedforuseaspavingbrick(seeSpecificationC902).1.2Thepropertyrequirementsofthisstandardapplyatthetimeofpurchase.Theuseofresultsfromtestingofbrickextractedfrommasonrystructuresfordeterminingconformanceornonconformancetothepropertyrequirements(Section)ofthisstandardisbeyondthescopeofthisstandard.1.3Brickcoveredbythisspecificationaremanufacturedfromclay,shale,orsimilarnaturallyoccurringsubstancesandsubjectedtoaheattreatmentatelevatedtemperatures(firing).Theheattreatmentshalldevelopsufficientfiredbondbetweentheparticulateconstituentstoprovidethestrengthanddurabilityrequirementsofthisspecification.(See"firing"and"firingbond"inTerminologyC43.)1.4Hollowbrickdifferfromunglazedstructuralclaytile(SpecificationsC34andC212)andsolidbrick(SpecificationsC62andC216).Hollowbrickrequiregreatershellandwebthicknessesandhigherminimumcompressivestrengththanstructuralclaytile,butpermitgreatervoidareaandlesserdistancefromexposededgetocoreholethansolidbrick.Therefore,environmentalandstructuralperformancemaybedifferentinelementsconstructedofhollowbrickfromthoseconstructedofstructuralclaytileorsolidbrick.1.5Thetextofthisstandardreferencesnotesandfootnoteswhichprovideexplanatorymaterial.Thesenotesandfootnotes(excludingthoseintablesandfigures)shallnotbeconsideredasrequirementsofthestandard.1.6Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.
